School visit to University Gallery - 30th April 2008
We ignored the howling winds and sudden downpours ! and had a fantastic school trip to Essex University.
Jessica, the Gallery Manager, braved the weather and took us around some of the sculptures in the grounds, Sarah showed us around the exhibition she had helped curate in the University Gallery, called 'Yours, Mine, Ours'. We also got to make our own artwork in this huge room in a building called The Hexagon. We were given a poster of the famous painting 'Mona Lisa' by Leonardo Da Vinci and we had to work in pairs to layer the picture with all sorts of things like newspapers, tissue paper, pipe cleaners and sequins, making it into our own piece of art. It was great to have both schools together an
d everyone worked really well with their new partners and mixed groups, taking care to take each others ideas into account. Mrs. Best and all the helpers made an artwork and Mrs. Sanderson became our photographer for the day. Before we left the University Jessica helped us to choose a name for our exhibition, we have decided to call it 'Outside Inside'.

Looks like you all had a really fun day. I'm looking forward to seeing your own exhibition, Outside Inside, very soon.
Best wishes,
